Je ne sais quoi (*A certain something*)

My latest model just HAS it… that ‘je ne sais quoi’ as it is often called.

Je ne sais quoi is known to the French as an indefinable, elusive quality that captivates and enchants both men & women alike. The phrase, which literally translates to ‘I know not what’ (and roughly means ‘a certain something’) has been used since the late 1600′s.

Ioana is a classic beauty, as you will soon see. I met her in high school, (go Bandits- HA!) and re-connected with her on good ‘ol Facebook. As any good Facebook aficionado would do, I casually noticed how AMAZING she looked in every single photo she posted via Facebook and Instagram. While simultaneously conjuring up a vintage beach shoot in my head, I kept thinking what a perfect model she would be.

After speaking with Ioana about my photoshoot ideas, she wearily agreed to model for me.

The weather was incredibly humid and hot on the day of shooting, but Ioana was a total pro. We used two locations: The Merrick Rose Garden (my FAV), and Dempster Beach in Evanston. While scouting a perfect beach spot in the Evanston area, I found this cool hideaway where people store their canoes and paddle-boats. It was the perfect backdrop!

Today you will be seeing two different editing stories. This body of images is entirely black & white. I wanted to truly capture the poise, mystery, and intangibly distinctive magic of what I like to call Vintage Living’.

As always, thank you for visiting my little world and being active participants in my creations.

And to the beautiful and timeless Ioana, you are a diamond in the rough… A woman with je ne sais quoi!
